Ruidoso Downs New Mexico

Ruidoso Downs is home to the famous racetrack that bears its name. World-class thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing begins Memorial Day weekend and continues until Labor Day. The Ruidoso Downs racetrack is the site of the All American Futurity. That race's 1965 purse of $419,000 made it the richest quarter horse race in the world.
Billy the Kid Casino
Adjacent to the Track is the new Billy the Kid Casino

The Village of Ruidoso Downs, best known for its horse racing track, also offers many fine lodging and dining facilities, as well as major tourist attractions & an annual craft fair.

In 1946, the town got its first post office under the name of Green Tree. The name was changed to Ruidoso Downs so the race track would have its own postmark.
